Ford F-150 vs. GMC Sierra 1500 Comparison

Looking into a new truck? Check out our new Ford F-150 at Ken Pollock Ford and compare it to the competition

At Ken Pollock Ford, we've been one of the premier resources for new Ford vehicles to the greater Berwick, PA area for quite a few years now. And while we have an affinity for each new Ford model on our showroom floor, we can confidently say that the Ford F-150 takes the top spot in terms of popularity.

With a reputation for durability, the Ford F-150 has always been a favorite work truck for folks from Mountain Top to Benton, PA. But with its refined interior, capacious cabin, and plenty of smart and useful tech features to boot, the Ford F-150 is good to so much more than hauling heavy loads.

That being said, if you're interested in a new truck, you know it's important to do your due diligence when it comes to researching the competition. Fortunately, you won't have to do all the legwork, as we've prepared a brief competitive comparison to show you how our new Ford F-150 stacks up against one of its segment competitors, the GMC Sierra 1500.

Ford F-150 vs. GMC Sierra 1500

Now, there are a lot of different factors to consider when choosing your next truck, but a look under the hood is always a good place to start.

Ford EcoBoost vs. GMC EcoTec3: What's the difference?

Both Ford and GMC are known for their signature engines, but like any savvy truck buyer, you want to know which one superior. Fortunately, when it comes to powertrains, the Ford EcoBoost engine easily outclasses the GMC EcoTec3. When equipped to the Ford F-150, the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine offers more horsepower and torque than the comparable 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V6 engine on the GMC Sierra 1500.

What's more, not only is the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine more powerful, it also helps the Ford F-150 achieve better gas mileage than the GMC Sierra 1500. When properly equipped, the Ford F-150 can get up to 19 miles per gallon in the city and 22 miles per gallon on the highway. By comparison, the GMC Sierra only manages to get up to 17 miles per gallon in the city and 22 miles per gallon on the highway, so its drivers can expect to spend  quite a bit more time and money at the gas pump.

Capability

Of course, if you're in the market for a truck like the Ford F-150, you want to know how much it can haul. Luckily, the Ford F-150 will never leave you wanting for towing power, as you can count on it for up to 13,200 pounds of towing capacity when properly equipped. Now, the GMC Sierra 1500 is similarly powerful, but it tops out at just 12,500 pounds of towing capacity.

But it's not just about having the muscle to haul heavy loads, but also the tech and smarts to ensure you can work effectively and efficiently. And when it comes to technology, the Ford F-150 has it in spades. In fact, with everything from its exclusive Pro-Trailer Backup Assist system to its Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-And-Go feature, the Ford F-150 easily positions itself as one of the most sophisticated trucks in its class, and best of all, its tech features are designed to be intuitive and easy-to-use on the road. On the other hand, the GMC Sierra has plenty of tech features, but lacks anything comparable to those we've listed for the Ford F-150 among others, ultimately making it a less attractive option for tech-loving truck customers in nearby Hazleton and Bloomsburg, PA.
