The Ford Explorer Gets a Complete Redesign for 2020

Earlier this month, Ford introduced the all-new 2020 Explorer at a special reveal event for fans, employees, dealers, suppliers, and media. The event, held at Ford Field in Detroit, showcased a revamped Explorer that's designed to help American families get the most out of their SUV -- whether they're going about their daily tasks or heading off on a family road trip.

The 2020 Explorer is lighter, leaner, and stronger than ever, with an athletic design that lends itself to both on- and off-road explorations. Boasting the broadest trim level lineup in the model's history, the Explorer can be equipped with powerful and efficient EcoBoost® engines that give the SUV even more towing capability.

Then there's the all-new available Terrain Management System™, which offers up to seven drive modes to help with a variety of conditions. An easy-to-use dial allows you to select from normal, trail, slippery, sport, deep snow and sand, tow/haul, and eco modes; each comes with special 3D animated graphics in the 12.3-inch digital cluster.

There are even more standard features than ever in the 2020 Explorer, like a power liftgate, an 8-inch digital touchscreen with SYNC® 3 infotainment system, and FordPass Connect™ Wi-Fi service that can host up to 10 devices at a time.

In a press release, Bill Gubing, Explorer Chief Engineer, was quoted as saying, "We obsessed about what Explorer customers need and want. We met with customer groups, pored through internet forums, and dissected social media posts to determine what they love about today’s Explorer and understand their pain points. Then we found ways to improve it across the board. Every enhancement on this all-new Explorer was inspired by our customers."

The 2020 Explorer is expected to arrive this summer. We hope you're as excited about the all-new 2020 Ford Explorer as we are, and invite you to check back here to learn more details about the SUV as we get them.
